1The Impact of Code.Org on Education and PolicyCoding, STEM and computer science can be incredibly powerful tools in the classroom. Teachers and lawmakers alike are seeing the impact of putting renewed focus on these tools in educational approaches and technology. This panel discussion will focus not only on how educators and policy makers can support a movement toward a more STEM friendly educational approach, but on how a STEM-friendly educational approach impacts students and the economy.

Rebecca Coda is a National Board Certified Teacher, recognized Master Teacher through the Arizona K12 Center, and technology leader. She is the founder of the Digital Native Network as the website author, blogger and curriculum resources designer.

Rebecca currently serves her community as a STEM Coach, and special needs children volunteer. She has worked 18 years in the field of education that includes: teaching grades 4-7, instructional coaching (K-8), designing and facilitating professional development for all leader levels, as a ELA district-wide curriculum specialist (K-8) and as a district 1:1 technology integration specialist.

Riley Wagner: A senior at University High School in Tolleson, Riley has participated in FIRST robotics for six years and completed an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at E2@MIT. She has taken a Code.org professional development workshop and has taught Code.org classes at the Boys and Girls Club, the Foothills library in Glendale and the Golden Gate Community Center in Phoenix, and is currently teaching her peers to do the same.
